Let smsGuardian® add a new level of fraud protection to your debit card. This is a renewable 12 month subscription for a "short message service" program will send a text to the device of your choice when transactions meet certain requirements. (Please note that message and data rates may apply.) The number of messages you receive is based on your card usage and you will receive only one message per suspicious transaction on your card.
Here's how the system works. You may enroll up to 4 devices to receive text alert messages. When you are enrolled, you will receive a text message each time your debit card is used for:
- International transactions
- Purchases of more than $500
- 6 or more transactions in 24 hours
- Online or telephone authorizations
You can review the text upon receipt and have up to 12 hours to respond. Of course, in the event that fraud has taken place, it is better if you respond as soon as possible. If you used the card for the transaction in question, there is nothing you need to do. If you did not make the transaction, simply reply to the text message as directed, which notifies risk management at smsGuardian®. A fraud case will be opened, and you will receive a text advising that your card has been blocked from further use. (Please contact Stockgrowers State Bank to order a replacement card.)
The "Do-Not-Disturb" feature allows you to receive texts when it is most convenient for you. For example, if you do not wish to receive messages from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m., you can set "Do-Not-Disturb" to deliver messages after 7 a.m. Click on the "Preferences" tab to set this function.
There is help available. If you need HELP with this service, is easy to find. All you need to do is reply to a text from smsGuardian® with the word HELP or call (888) 868-8611.
You may unsubscribe from this service at any time by texting the word STOP in reply to any alert, or Unsubscribe Here and click on the "Devices" tab to delete a device.
Note: your card is not considered unenrolled until ALL devices have been deleted.
Enrolling is easy! All you need to do is click on the smsGuardian® link, review the Terms and Conditions provided, and enroll your check card(s).

Are there security features in placed to protect cardholder information?
Full cardholder information is NEVER included in a text. Only the last four digits of the card number are displayed in the text. The short message service is Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliant.
Yes, because these are two separate ways Stockgrowers is protecting you. It is possible that you could receive a text message and a call. The call would come from an analyst. Analysts have the ability to know if a cardholder has received a text alert on a transaction. In cases of fraud, analysts will block the card & notify the bank. Be sure to contact Stockgrowers State Bank timely to dispute any fraudulent charges that may have been authorized and request a replacement card.
The beginning of the text message will feature the initials SSB for Stockgrowers State Bank. The message will also include the last 4 digits of the card used, along with the dollar amount of the transaction. You need to respond only if you DID NOT make the transaction. See sample above. Reply as directed.
Will the texts appear to be from smsGuardian® or Stockgrowers State Bank?
The text will reference Stockgrowers State Bank followed by smsGuardian alert and the last four digits of the check card in question.
The text response is placed in the highest priority to the Risk Management/Fraud Department. The next available analysis will block the card. The analyst will go through the appropriate channels of notifying Stockgrowers State Bank of the fraud.
Yes, a renewal notification will be sent six days prior to the expiration. Three renewal text message attempts will be made before the device is set to expire. If the cardholder does not respond, the device will be removed from smsGuardian® upon expiration. If a cardholder renews the device multiple times, it will extend and additional year for each extra click. So if a cardholder wants to renew for 5 years, the cardholder can click the renewal button 5 times.
No. Stockgrowers State Bank is assuming all cost for enrollments, editing devices & preferences, along with re-enrollment. However, message & data rates may apply from your mobile service provider.
Yes, a message will be sent once the Do-Not-Disturb window is off. For example, if the Do-Not-Disturb window is set from 11:00 pm to 6:00 am, and one or more alerts are created during this time frame, the alert messages from that time period will be sent to the cardholder beginning at 6:00 am.
